Hydraulic lifters not bleeding down

X_1 Jan 05, 2012 · Some aftermarket hydraulic lifters designed for street use have a higher bleed down rate that effectively reduces camshaft duration by 6 to 10 degrees and valve lift .020 to .030? at low rpm for increased intake vacuum and throttle response. At higher rpms, the higher bleed down rate has less of an effect allowing normal camshaft duration and lift. BillOn the outside, Isky Racing Cams Anti Pump-Up Hydraulic Lifters look like a typical hydraulic lifter. On the inside, however, these lifters are very different. The internal design of each lifter prevents the lifter from bleeding down, providing sustained compression and horsepower when utilizing a camshaft with a radical grind. Features They are bleeding down because you have the valves OPEN on the base circle! Don't spin the pushrods, just jiggle em up and down. When you can't feel em move up and down anymore, add a quarter turn and call it good. Also, how the heck are you adjusting half the lifters without turning the crank? The valves must be CLOSED to adjust.Joined Jul 11, 2000. 25,239 Posts. #5 · Sep 6, 2006. Solid lifters give better performance because they can run steeper ramps and are more accurate.
